Senior Design Project Proposal for Industry Sponsors

Senior students in Gannon University’s College of Engineering and Business complete capstone research and design projects. The University encourages collaboration with local industries to partner on these projects to benefit both the organization by meeting their business needs and the students by providing practical, hands-on experience to advance their educational experience.

Project Scope and Timeline

  • Industry sponsors seeking to partner with Gannon University should complete the brief Senior Design Project Proposal form on this page to detail the scope of the project request.
  • Project submissions are accepted at any time; but are preferred during the summer months.
  • Projects begin in the Fall semester. They are completed in 1-2 semesters, beginning in October and ending in May.
  • The number of students assigned to a project may vary depending on its size and scope. Typically, projects are assigned to 4 students and 1 advisor; multi-discipline projects may require a co-advisor.

Benefits

A great way to establish industry relationships is through senior projects. Senior projects may involve industrial partners willing to participate in a relationship that will bring their organization and a team of students together in a problem-solving project that provides students with practical experience and further develops their engineering education. Senior Projects can be an important first step in building long-term relationships with local companies, which will lead to internships, full-time employment and faculty research and engagement.

Additionally, Gannon University has several labs available to assist students with their projects. This includes a manufacturing lab to build prototypes and a test lab to validate their designs.
